Coronado Central Beach is the postcard version of San Diego. The sand is wide and glittering with mica, the water is usually calm, and the Hotel del Coronado provides a dramatic backdrop. It is the best beach for families because the waves are gentle and the sand is perfect for building castles. The beach is long enough that even on busy weekends you can find a spot. The views of the Point Loma skyline and the San Diego Bay bridge add to the scenery. Parking can be a challenge, but the experience is worth the effort. It is the beach that first-time visitors should put at the top of their list.
