Petco Park limits bags to small soft-sided items — a clutch, a small purse or a soft cooler-style bag within the posted size limit — plus medical and diaper bags after inspection. Hard-sided coolers, backpacks over the size limit, large totes, umbrellas, professional cameras with detachable lenses, drones, glass, cans and outside alcohol are refused. Sealed plastic water bottles and outside food in a clear or soft bag are generally allowed, which is the single biggest money saver at the park. If your bag is turned away, nearby businesses and locker services around the East Village will hold it for a fee — there is no bag check at the gate.

Pick the right gate
The home plate gate is the busiest. East Village and Park Boulevard gates are usually quicker for a 6:40pm first pitch.
Food, drink and money savers
Bring your own water
Sealed plastic bottles are allowed, and refill stations inside mean one bottle covers the game. This alone saves a family more than parking costs.
Bring your own snacks
Outside food in a soft bag is permitted. Sandwiches and fruit for kids, then buy one thing inside for the ritual.
No glass, cans or alcohol
Any glass container, aluminum can or outside alcohol is refused at every gate, regardless of bag size.
If your bag is turned away
There is no gate bag check
The ballpark does not store refused bags. Plan around it rather than assuming you can leave something at the entrance.
Nearby locker and storage services
App-based luggage-storage services partner with East Village and Gaslamp businesses and will hold a bag by the hour. Book on your phone from the gate line if you're stuck.
Back to the car
If you parked in an adjacent structure it's a five-minute round trip. From a Gaslamp garage, budget twenty.
