    The rule of thumb

Buy dated tickets online. Never pay gate price. The San Diego Zoo 2-Visit Pass is the best single deal in the city. For everything else, only buy a multi-attraction pass if you will actually use it on 3+ attractions in a short window.

    Which pass saves money?

    Zoo + Safari Park

Buy the 2-Visit Pass ($86). It's only $10 more than one ticket and covers both parks.

    Zoo + SeaWorld

Individual dated tickets are usually cheaper than Go City unless you add a third attraction like USS Midway.

    3+ attractions in 3 days

Go City or CityPASS can save money, but only if you use it aggressively.

    Locals / repeat visitors

A Zoo membership or SeaWorld annual pass pays off fast.

    LEGOLAND only

Buy dated online. Skip the Hopper unless it's a hot summer day.

    Military families

Check Blue Star discounts and military appreciation days at the Zoo and SeaWorld.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What's the cheapest way to do San Diego theme parks?+

Pick the 2-Visit Pass for the Zoo + Safari Park ($86) and buy SeaWorld or LEGOLAND tickets online in advance. Only buy a multi-attraction pass if you're visiting 3+ big attractions in a short trip.

Is Go City San Diego worth it?+

Sometimes. If you plan to visit the Zoo, SeaWorld, and USS Midway in 3 days, it can save $50+ per person. If you only want two attractions, individual tickets are usually cheaper.

Does the Zoo ticket include SeaWorld?+

No. San Diego Zoo tickets are separate from SeaWorld and LEGOLAND. The 2-Visit Pass only covers the Zoo and Safari Park.

Can you get a combined ticket for SeaWorld and LEGOLAND?+

No official combined ticket exists, but third-party passes like Go City sometimes bundle them. Compare pricing carefully.

Should you buy tickets at the gate?+

Almost never. Gate prices are $20–$40 higher per person than online dated tickets. Buy at least a few days ahead.
