Transit that works
Con week is the one week of the year when San Diego's transit system is genuinely the fastest option downtown.
Park-and-ride strategy
Drive to Old Town, Fashion Valley or Hazard Center, leave the car and ride in. This is the cheapest realistic plan for anyone commuting from outside downtown, and it skips the garage exit gridlock at night.
Coaster from North County
Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas and Solana Beach connect to Santa Fe Depot, a 15-minute walk or one trolley stop from the hall. Check the last northbound departure before committing to an evening panel.
Official hotel shuttles
Badge holders at partner hotels get shuttle service on published loops. It is convenient in the morning and slow after 6 pm, when everyone leaves at once.
Walking and scooters
Downtown Comic-Con is walkable end to end in about 20 minutes. Scooters are widely available but restricted on the Harbor Drive sidewalks during peak crowd hours.

Book a garage in advance
Downtown garages sell prepaid event spaces online. That is the only way to be confident of a spot, and it is nearly always cheaper than the drive-up event rate.
Arrive before 8 am
Garages near the convention center fill early, and Harbor Drive traffic slows badly once badge pickup starts. Early arrival is worth more than any parking discount.
Park east, walk west
East Village garages near Petco Park are typically cheaper and easier to exit than the ones on Harbor Drive, and the walk is 10 minutes past offsite activations you probably wanted to see anyway.
Avoid in-and-out
Most event-rate garages charge per entry with no re-entry privileges. Plan a single park for the whole day.
Night exits
After Hall H empties or the Saturday evening events end, garage exits back up for 30–45 minutes. Dinner in East Village or Little Italy is a better use of that time.
Street closures and crowd flow
Harbor Drive
Lanes and sidewalks along Harbor Drive get reconfigured for pedestrian flow and offsite builds. Expect the closure footprint to grow from Wednesday preview night through Saturday.
Fifth Avenue and the Gaslamp
Portions of the Gaslamp go pedestrian-only in the evenings. Great for walking, useless for driving — do not route a rideshare through it after dark.
Petco Park and Tailgate Park
Large activations take over these lots, removing hundreds of parking spaces that exist the rest of the year. Do not rely on last year's memory of where you parked.
Accessible drop-off
Designated accessible drop-off points operate near the convention center entrances. Confirm the current location on the official transportation page, since it moves with the closures.

- • Dates, routes, road closures and ticket prices for annual events change every year. Confirm details on the official event site in the week before you go.
- • Big San Diego events almost always beat you on parking. Assume lots fill an hour before the headline moment and plan a trolley, ferry or walk-in approach instead.
- • Weather matters more than the schedule for the coastal events. Marine layer can flatten a fireworks view and July mornings are often gray until 11 am.
- • If an event is ticketed, buy from the official operator. Resale for San Diego festivals and fair concerts routinely runs above face value with no re-entry rights.
