Viejas Arena is SDSU's basketball barn moonlighting as San Diego's second-biggest indoor concert room. It gets the arena tours that don't want Pechanga's cavernous acoustics — and because it sits directly on a trolley line, it is the easiest big room in the county to reach without a car.

Campus lots run about $15–$25 for events, or ride the Green Line trolley straight to the SDSU Transit Center under the arena and skip parking entirely. Event parking is in the campus structures — Parking 5 (Canyon Crest) is closest, with Parking 6 and the Aztec Center structure as overflow. Buy in advance through the venue when it's offered; day-of lots can sell out for a big show. The College Area residential streets north of Montezuma are permit-restricted and enforced late, so the free-street-parking gamble usually ends in a ticket.

Transit & rideshare
This is the single best transit venue in San Diego. The Green Line trolley stops at the SDSU Transit Center, which is literally underneath the arena plaza — no walk, no surge pricing, no exit traffic. Trains run late enough for most weeknight shows, but confirm the last northbound and eastbound departures if the headliner goes past 10:30pm.
Lower bowl sides, sections G–L — elevated enough to see over the floor, close enough that the PA hasn't smeared yet.
Floor rows 10–20 rather than the very front. The first few rows sit below the stage lip and you spend the night looking up at monitors.
Upper bowl center facing the stage is genuinely fine here — the room is small for an arena and sightlines are steep and clean.
Avoid the extreme side sections behind the stage line; production frequently curtains them off, and when it doesn't, you're watching the back of the video wall.
Bag policy
Clear bag policy: clear plastic or vinyl totes up to roughly 12"x6"x12", or a small clutch about the size of a hand. No backpacks, no non-clear totes, no outside food or drink. There is no bag check on campus, so leaving an oversized bag means a walk back to the parking structure.

Standard arena concessions on the concourse — beer around $13–$16, wine and canned cocktails at some stands, plus pizza, hot dogs, and nachos. Lines during the set break are long because the concourse is narrow. Cashless.

Take the trolley. Post-show, the Canyon Crest exit onto Montezuma backs up for 30–40 minutes while the Green Line is moving in five.
Buy parking in advance if you must drive — day-of prices are higher and the closest structures fill first.
Sound in the upper bowl is better than the price difference suggests. This is one arena where cheap seats are a real value.
The concourse is a single narrow ring. Go for merch or drinks during the opener, never at the set break.
Campus alcohol rules mean drink service can cut off earlier than at a commercial arena. Don't count on a last-song beer.
Take the MTS Green Line to the SDSU Transit Center. The station sits directly beneath the campus plaza next to the arena, so it is a two-minute walk to the doors. It is the fastest and cheapest way to reach the venue, and it avoids the post-show exit backup entirely.
