The big summer shed. Every major touring amphitheatre act — the rock package tours, the country tours, the hip-hop bills — plays Chula Vista. It's 20 minutes south of downtown, the lawn is enormous, and the parking exit is the single most complained-about experience in San Diego live music. Go anyway; plan the exit.

Quick answer: Sections 201–203 are the sweet spot for value and sound. The lawn is cheap and social but the sound arrives late. Parking is $35–$50 and the post-show exit takes 45–70 minutes — park in the far outer rows facing out, or rideshare from the Otay Ranch Town Center.

On-site parking is $35–$50 depending on the show, with VIP/preferred closer in. The lot empties through a small number of exits and it is genuinely slow. The local move: park in an outer row pointed toward the exit, or skip the lot entirely and get dropped at the Otay Ranch Town Center about a mile away.

Transit & rideshare
There is no trolley within walking distance — the closest Blue Line stop is Palomar, about 3 miles away, which is a short rideshare. Most people drive or split an Uber from downtown ($30–$45 each way, more with surge).
Sections 201–203 center — elevated enough for a clean view, close enough that the mix is still tight. Best price-to-experience ratio in the building.
Reserved 101–104 for a true up-close show if the budget allows.
Lawn, top-center near the sound tower — surprisingly the best lawn sound; the bottom of the lawn hears mostly reflections.
Avoid extreme side sections 105/107; you'll be watching the video wall and hearing one side of the PA.
Bag policy
Clear bag policy on most tours: clear bags up to 12"x6"x12" or a small clutch. One sealed water bottle is typically permitted. No outside food, no chairs, no blankets larger than a standard throw on the lawn.
Food & drink inside
Standard amphitheatre concessions — $16–$20 beers, $18–$25 food, and long lines during the direct-support set. Eat in Chula Vista or downtown before you come.

The exit is the whole game. Back into an outer spot facing the road, or budget an extra hour.
Lawn tickets are frequently $25–$40 and drop further in the week of the show. Waiting often pays here — this is one of the few venues where late buying wins.
Bring a light jacket. It's inland-adjacent, but the evening cools off fast after dark.
Rideshare pickup is staged far from the gate. Walking toward Main St before ordering saves 20+ minutes.
The venue has changed sponsor names repeatedly (Coors, Sleep Train, Mattress Firm, North Island). Locals just call it the Chula Vista Amphitheatre — search both if you're hunting for tickets.
Sections 201–203 in the center offer the best combination of price, sound, and sightline. Reserved 101–104 gets you close if budget isn't an issue. On the lawn, the top center near the sound tower actually sounds better than the bottom of the hill.
