San Diego Concert Venues
Home to Comic-Con International and a year-round slate of conventions, trade shows, and esports events, the San Diego Convention Center is the waterfront behemoth with the sails on the roof. Whether you're here for a badge-holders-only mega-event or a public consumer show, the logistics are the same: parking is scarce, food inside is expensive, and the building is longer than you think.

The convention center's own garage (1,950 spaces) charges $15–$35 depending on event demand and fills early. Gaslamp and East Village garages run $20–$40 on convention days. The smart play is any trolley station with free parking (Old Town, Fashion Valley) plus the Green/Orange line to the door.

Transit & rideshare
Two trolley stations serve the building directly: Convention Center (Orange/Silver line side) and Gaslamp Quarter. From the airport, rideshare is 10 minutes; from Amtrak's Santa Fe Depot, it's a 15-minute waterfront walk. Pedicabs swarm the front drive and run $10–$20 around downtown.
Hall H for Comic-Con's biggest panels — line up the night before (yes, really) or follow the official line wristband system.
Upper-level Sails Pavilion areas for registration and quieter breaks.
The bayside terraces behind the building for free air, views, and a reset between sessions.
Meeting rooms 6–9 on the upper level — best balance of panel quality and survivable lines during big cons.
Bag policy
Policies vary by event — Comic-Con has its own prop/bag rules, trade shows are usually lax. Standard: bags subject to search, no outside food for most events (though Comic-Con allows snacks and a refillable water bottle). Check your specific event's page.
Food & drink inside
Convention center food is convention center food: $14 sandwiches, long lines at noon. Walk 5 minutes into the Gaslamp or East Village for exponentially better options. Seaport Village is next door for casual tourist fare; the Embarcadero behind the building has public seating.

Comic-Con badges sell out in under an hour months in advance. Hotels through the official lottery are the only sane downtown option — book the day it opens.
For public shows, buy tickets online in advance — there's usually a discount and you skip the box office line.
The building is a third of a mile long. Comic-Con attendees routinely log 8–10 miles a day. Break in your shoes first.
