Yamadaya's kotteri broth is the thickest in San Diego, closer to gravy than soup. That is a feature if you came for richness and a flaw if you wanted balance. The chashu is generous and the noodles hold their bite even at the bottom of the bowl.
Local tip: Ask for kotteri if you want the full-fat version — the standard broth is noticeably lighter.
