Mission Beach parking is competitive on warm weekends. Start with the public lots at South Mission Beach, Bonita Cove or near Belmont Park, then use the bay side as the fallback instead of circling the oceanfront streets. Free street parking turns over slowly, and limits or overnight closures depend on the posted sign at the space or lot. Arrive before the main beach crowd, check current restrictions and use MTS Route 8 from Old Town when you want to avoid the search entirely.

The most convenient parking area for Belmont Park and the central boardwalk. Read the current entrance and space signs because limits and operating conditions can change.
Local tip: Match your visit to the posted limit rather than assuming an all-day space.
Near the jetty, end of Mission Blvd · Free · large
The biggest free ocean-side lot, serving the jetty, the volleyball courts and the quieter south end of the boardwalk. Worth driving to the very end for.
Bay side, off Mission Blvd / W Mission Bay Dr · Free · big, and the reliable answer
Several large free lots on the calm bay side. From most of them the ocean is a 5–10 minute walk straight across the peninsula, and they still have space when the ocean side has been full for two hours.

Commercial lots can be useful when public spaces are full. Check the live rate, closing time and re-entry rules before paying.
Free · no permit required
Free spots run the length of the boulevard but turn over slowly because beachgoers and residents both use them. Northbound in the morning is marginally better than southbound.
Free · extremely tight
The narrow walk streets between Mission Boulevard and the boardwalk have a small number of legal spaces. Do not block a driveway or an alley — Mission Beach is one of the most actively towed neighborhoods in the city.
Do not park here
Alley spaces behind beach houses are private access routes and can be tow-away areas. Never block one for a shorter walk.
Public lots at South Mission Beach, Bonita Cove and other Mission Bay locations are commonly free, as is much street parking. Read the sign at the exact lot or space for current limits and restrictions.
Start with the lots around Belmont Park and read their current posted limits. When they are full, South Mission Beach and the Mission Bay side lots are the practical fallbacks.
The ocean-side lots and streets are effectively full by 10 am on warm weekends. The bay-side lots hold out until about 11:30 am. Before 9 am or after 4 pm, parking is straightforward.
Do not assume a beach or bay lot allows overnight parking. Lots post closure windows at their entrances, while residential streets have separate restrictions and sweeping schedules.
Mission Beach has more free lot capacity thanks to the Mission Bay side, but the ocean-side streets are tighter. Pacific Beach has more street parking spread over a larger grid, so it is often easier mid-day if you accept a longer walk.
