Yes, with normal urban awareness. Fri-Sat gets rowdy after 1 AM with bar crowds. There is a visible SDPD presence in Gaslamp; violent incidents are rare.
5–10 minutes on foot. The Convention Center is directly south of Gaslamp across Harbor Drive. Any Gaslamp hotel is functionally 'convention walkable.'
Almost never — expect $30–$50/night for valet or self-park at most Gaslamp hotels. Best Western Plus Bayside is a notable free-parking exception.
