Stay within walking distance when the venue allows it. For the Rady Shell and Petco Park, a downtown hotel in the Marina District, East Village or Gaslamp lets you walk both ways. For Snapdragon Stadium, a Mission Valley hotel near a Green Line trolley station is the practical base. For North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, nothing is walkable, so choose a hotel with simple parking or plan a rideshare. For Humphreys on Shelter Island, stay on Shelter Island itself. Book two nights so the show night is not also a long drive home.

The Rady Shell sits on the bay at Embarcadero Marina Park South, behind the Convention Center. Shows end close to the water with a lot of people leaving at once.
Hotels along the waterfront and in the Marina District let you walk to and from the Shell, which takes the closing-time rideshare scramble out of the night. Our hotels near the Rady Shell guide covers the closest properties.
Seaport Village and the Gaslamp are close for dinner before the show. After the show, kitchens nearby may be closing, so book an early table.
Downtown puts the USS Midway, Little Italy and the Coronado ferry in easy reach the next day, which makes a two-night stay worth it.
Stadium concerts at Petco Park put tens of thousands of people into East Village at the same moment. Walking is the easy way out.
Many hotels are a short walk from the ballpark. You will pay more on show nights, but you skip event parking and the pickup crowd. Ask for a room away from the street if you want to sleep early the next night.
The Gaslamp Quarter and 12th & Imperial trolley stations are near the ballpark. Check MTS for event-day service before relying on a late train.
The Gaslamp has the most late-night options of any venue on this list, which is a real advantage after a stadium show.
Snapdragon Stadium is in Mission Valley, with the trolley Green Line serving the stadium area.
A Mission Valley hotel near a Green Line station lets you ride to the show and back without driving. Many Mission Valley hotels also have simpler parking than downtown, which helps if you drove in.
Trains and rideshare pickups get busy after the show. Either wait out the first rush or agree on a pickup point away from the main exits.
Mission Valley's food is spread out. Eat near your hotel before the show or plan a ride to Old Town or Hillcrest.
This outdoor amphitheatre is in eastern Chula Vista, away from the main hotel areas. Treat it as a drive or rideshare venue.
If you are driving, a hotel with straightforward parking and an easy freeway connection makes more sense than a central hotel with expensive valet. Check the venue's own parking details on your ticket.
Downtown gives you a better second day. If you go this route, price the rideshare both ways for your date and expect a wait after the show.
Exit lines at large amphitheatre shows can be long. Do not plan anything tight for the same night.
Humphreys is a small outdoor venue on Shelter Island, next to its own hotel, the Humphreys Half Moon Inn.
