Sunset Cliffs is at its peak September through October — no marine layer, warm evenings, and Pacific sunsets. Mid-May is the shoulder-season sweet spot. Avoid January–March for the biggest surf swells that flood permit spots.

Sunset Cliffs faces directly west. Target ceremonies 45 minutes before official sunset May–October for full golden-hour light, and 60 minutes before sunset November–April. Photographers request a 45-minute buffer between ceremony end and the walk to reception for cliff-edge portraits.
