Bates Nut Farm and the biggest patches have the best photo pumpkins the first two weekends of October. By October 25, many fields are picked over.
Every patch is packed on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. If you can go Tuesday–Thursday before 11am, you'll get photos without crowds and easy parking.
Some smaller farms still prefer cash for activities. Even in October, San Diego UV is strong and most patches have little shade. Hats and closed-toe shoes help.
Pumpkin patch hours change year to year, and some farms close during the week. Always verify Instagram or the farm's website before heading out to Valley Center or Ramona.
