Arrive before the flying starts
Static aircraft displays on the ramp open before the aerial program, and that's the calmest, coolest part of the day. By the time the jets fly, the gate lines are long.
Local tip: The ramp surface radiates heat all afternoon — it is consistently hotter on the flight line than the forecast for San Diego.
Ear protection is not optional for kids
Tactical demonstrations and the jet team are genuinely painful at close range for small children. Over-ear muffs, not foam plugs.

Standard practice at air shows: tall chairs get you asked to move behind the line. A low beach chair or a blanket works everywhere.
