Pizza Port is a San Diego institution because it combines two great things: good beer and good pizza. The Carlsbad location is the original and still the best, with a surf-shop vibe and a family-friendly crowd. The Swami's IPA is a solid, drinkable West Coast IPA, and the pizza is a reliable thin-crust style. The Bressi Ranch and San Clemente locations extend the brand, but Carlsbad is the pilgrimage. It is the best brewery for a casual family dinner or a post-beach meal.
