Specializes in private-group guiding. Best if you've dove elsewhere and want a personal tour of the kelp forests. Also the go-to charter for legal California spearfishing.

The largest PADI training operation in San Diego. They run boat trips on the 'Humboldt' out to Wreck Alley (the Yukon and Ruby E wrecks) most Saturdays. Great retail store.

Best for: Gear rental if you're diving solo
Central location, cheap rentals. Good if you're an experienced diver visiting who wants to shore-dive La Jolla without hiring a guide.
The training site. Sand bottom, kelp fingers, easy entry through gentle surf. Depth 15-40 ft. Every diver's first San Diego dive.
Advanced shore dive. Deeper reef, more kelp, better fish life. Enter down the stairs at the Cove — timing the surge matters.
Point Loma. The HMCS Yukon (Canadian destroyer sunk in 2000, 100 ft), Ruby E (Coast Guard cutter, 85 ft), NOSC Tower. San Diego's signature wreck experience.
1.5 hours south by boat. Bigger animals — giant sea bass, mola mola, seven-gill sharks (winter). Passport required. Best day-boat dive on the West Coast.
