Lunch in Little Italy — Buon Appetito, Ironside, or Kettner Exchange. All 10 min from the pier.
Coronado ferry ($8 round-trip, 15 min each way) — walk Hotel Del beach, coffee at Clayton's, back to ship.
Back to ship. Most cruises require all-aboard by 5:30 PM. Do not push it — ships leave early.
Ship-time reminder
San Diego runs on Pacific Time. Cruise ships run on their own "ship time" — usually PT while docked but sometimes offset for the itinerary ahead. Check your daily program onboard and use ship time, not phone time, for all-aboard deadlines.

Cheaper alternatives: Ace Parking downtown lots ($15–$22/day, 5–10 min walk), and off-site lots (San Diego Cruise Parking, etc.) at $8–$14/day with shuttle. Pre-cruise hotels sometimes include park-and-cruise packages worth checking.
Carnival Cruise Line homeports Carnival Radiance year-round for Baja Mexico and Mexican Riviera itineraries. Follow your cruise line's assigned boarding group time. Earliest boarding is usually 10:30–11:00 AM, and last boarding is typically 3:00–3:30 PM. Ships sail at 4:00–5:00 PM. Arriving 30 minutes before your assigned time is enough — arriving 3+ hours early just means waiting in the terminal lobby.
Legally, closed-loop cruises (round-trip from SD to Mexico and back) accept a birth certificate + government photo ID. Practically, bring a passport — it's required if you need to fly home from a foreign port due to a missed re-boarding, medical emergency, or ship diversion. Panama Canal and open-jaw itineraries always require a passport.
