    Mind Trap Escape Rooms

    Miramar
    Order: The Heist$30–38/person

The best value escape room for a mid-sized group.

Mind Trap keeps prices lower than the national chains and the puzzle flow is clean. Set dressing is simpler, but the logic holds up.

Local tip: Six players is the sweet spot here; eight gets crowded.

    Great Room Escape

    Mission Valley
    Order: Zombie or Saw-style rooms$32–40/person

The best pick if you want live actors and a scare element.

Great Room Escape leans horror and uses actors inside the room, which changes the pace entirely. It is more theater than puzzle box.

Local tip: Not a good choice for kids under 12 or anyone who dislikes being startled.

    Escape Room Era

    Carlsbad
    Order: Pirate's Cove$30–36/person

The best family-friendly option in North County.

A friendly, less intense operation with puzzles that families can actually solve together. Adults chasing a challenge should look elsewhere.

Local tip: Rooms are approachable enough for kids around 8 and up with an adult.
