Submit an event
Running a show, festival, pop-up, market or community night in San Diego? Send it over and we'll add it to the Sandi Spots calendar. Listings are free. We review every submission by hand, usually within a few days.
What we list — and what we don't
Sandi Spots covers events happening in San Diego County: concerts and DJ nights, comedy shows, theater and dance, art openings and museum nights, food and beer festivals, farmers markets and night markets, sports, family and kids' programming, holiday events, and neighborhood community happenings. Free events are just as welcome as ticketed ones — some of the most-clicked listings on the calendar are free markets and park events.
We do not list ongoing business hours, permanent attractions, standing happy hours, or open-ended "book anytime" experiences, because those are activities rather than events and our calendar filters them out automatically. We also skip multi-level-marketing pitches, webinars with no San Diego component, and anything that is primarily a sales presentation. Recurring events are fine — submit the next date and tell us the cadence in the description and we will handle the repeats.
How to get your listing approved faster
- Use a plain event name. "Sunset Cliffs Night Market" beats "SCNM Vol. 4 presented by…". Titles that read like ad copy get edited or rejected.
- Include a link. A ticket page, venue calendar, or official event page lets us verify the date, time, and price in seconds. Submissions with no verifiable source take the longest to review.
- Give a real start time. "Doors 7:00 PM, show 8:00 PM" is more useful to a reader than "evening."
- Name the venue and neighborhood. We map events to neighborhood pages, so "The Casbah, Little Italy" gets your event surfaced on more pages than an address alone.
- Add an image link. Events with a real photo or poster get noticeably more clicks on the calendar than ones using a fallback image. Use a direct image URL, landscape if you have one.
- Write two or three honest sentences. What happens, who it is for, what it costs. Skip the exclamation points.
After you submit
Every submission goes into a review queue that a person reads. We check the date, confirm the venue exists and is in San Diego County, verify the link, and clean up the title and description if needed. Most listings are reviewed within a few days. If your event is within 48 hours, mention that in the description — we prioritize anything about to happen.
Once approved, your event appears on the main events calendar and, where relevant, on our today, tonight, and weekend pages plus the matching neighborhood and category guides. We do not charge for listings, we do not offer paid placement, and we do not publish or sell your email address.
Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. Listings are free and always have been.
My event repeats every week. Do I submit each one?
Submit the next occurrence and describe the schedule ("every Thursday through October"). We will set up the recurrence on our side.
Something changed after I submitted.
Resubmit with the corrected details and note the change in the description, or reply to our follow-up email. We would rather pull a listing than leave a wrong date up.
Can I submit an event outside San Diego County?
Only Tijuana and immediate cross-border events get an exception, since a lot of our readers make that trip. Everything else has to be inside the county.
