Downtown covers several distinct pockets: the Gaslamp Quarter (nightlife, tourists, Fifth Avenue), East Village (Petco Park, newer restaurants, breweries), and Little Italy's edge along the waterfront. Walkable end to end in about 20 minutes.

Order: A day pass in the open workspace
An independent downtown space with meeting rooms and a quieter floor than the chain operators. Good for a short-stay work week.
Downtown is where San Diego's coworking supply is concentrated, largely because it's the one part of the county with trolley access from every line, walkable lunch, and enough office stock to convert. The tradeoff is parking cost: a daily driver pays garage rates that can rival the desk fee itself, which is why most regular members here commute in by transit.
Downtown Works is the stronger choice for someone actually based here — dedicated desks, real meeting rooms, and staff who know the members. WeWork makes sense mainly if your employer already holds an account, in which case the value is predictability across cities rather than anything specific to San Diego.
Both sit within a short walk of a trolley stop, which is the cheapest way in. If you must drive, monthly garage contracts cost far less than daily rates and are worth arranging in the first week.
